What is Whole Foods Nutrition?

At our healing center we believe the core of your health is the nutrition you put into your body and your body’s ability to absorb those nutrients. Without proper nutrition it is very difficult for your body to heal. For example, chiropractic adjustments hold much better in well hydrated patients with proper nutrition. Whole foods nutrition means eating foods as close to our earth as possible. Eating close to nature allows your body to access its innate ability to balance and heal.

Whole foods is defined as “food that has undergone very little processing and has grown or produced without the synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.”

A good example is carrots. Carrots are rich in vitamin A complex. A “complex” is something made up of different parts which work together. Synthetic vitamins do not contain the whole complex (as found in nature).

Eliminating processed, artificial ingredients and man-made foods can often leave you feeling frustrated, confused and unsure of what to eat. Making it is a process and takes time. Nearly everyone struggles with digestion at some level. The ability of the body to heal is largely dependent on its ability to absorb, assimilate and utilize nutrients. Often times patients come into our office taking many of the correct supplements or choosing appropriate modalities for their health issues, but diet is so poor, or their digestion so compromised, they are receiving few, if any, benefit from their nutrition supplements and healing efforts.

Although nutritional deficiencies may be due to illness, it is likely that other factors may be contributing to the problem also, some of which may be contained in the food you eat every day. A few factors negatively impacting the commercial food supply include:

  • microwaving
  • food coloring
  • flash freezing
  • genetic engineering
  • synthetic additives
  • preservatives
  • hormones & antibiotics (found in meat, chicken, eggs, dairy, etc.)
  • produce grown in soil that has been robbed of its nutrients
  • harmful chemicals and metals (such as pcb’s and mercury in some fish)

If any of these are included in your food supply, your food does not contain sufficient nutrients. In addition, it probably contains toxins which work against your body and any healing process.

There has been a drastic decline in the quality of food over the past 70 years, resulting in a nation of sick people who are dependent on pharmaceutical drugs. Your body’s function is founded on nourishment from the environment, which until recently did not include heavy metals, toxic chemicals, and pesticides.

Current food conditions make it next to impossible to get all of the nutritional components your body requires to heal and maintain resiliency.
